Spring Showcase Success

Hello Monday,

It is a windy one out there, filled with rain and muggy weather, but I am remaining as positive can be and you should be to! I am riding high of the success we all experienced yesterday at Undergraduate Admissions with hosting the first spring showcase of the semester. There was a proactive assembly of various student leaders and faculty and staff. I was fun to work with friends who were helping run the event, while representing Student Government, Summer Orientation,Sawyer Ambassadors, Residence Life and other institutional student programs.

I had the humbling pleasure to speak on one of the Parent Panels yesterday, all day long in the Law School. I served alongside exceptionally respected panel, consisting of Associate Dean, Sebastian Royo and Vice President Christine Perry of Financial Services. We also had two alumnus speakers, Allan Motenko 06' and Kerry Viera 92'.Listening on how their undergraduate tenure translated into professional success was inspiring and reassuring as in a little over a years time,I I am set to graduate...not scary, exciting for the future!! I also truly enjoyed the academic insight by Dean Royo, along with the past student perspective and career track discussion by our studious alum. Of course I valued working for Vice President Perry, she was a great moderator and I hope I get the opportunity to work with her again, just a great lady, good energy and humor, while really balancing the entire information session.

Overall, the entire program was planned and executed very well and I am looking forward to working the event once again on April 11.* My dad is one of the alumni speakers for the date,I want to to try and catch his speech, even though I know his story, it never get old to me.

Alright, I usually take this part of the post to tell you and get out and be active, but I have not been physically active all week since I am in brace, so I am not wuite motivated to the "T". With that being said, just relax and enjoy the night,I hear the poor weather is going to persist into the night,so kick back, relax and do yo' thing.

As Always,Take Care.

Hello Saturday,

I hope you all are doing well,I am just dropping a line to say hello since its been a bit. I will for sure get into my trip to Sainte Martin in my next post.

News to you all is that tomorrow is Suffolk University's first Spring Showcase of 2010! I am really excited and not sure what quite to expect, i hope its not chaotic mayhem. I am excited to take part in such a full scale event for undergraduate admissions. I am also getting a chance to speak on the parent's panel so if you attend , make sure to hit up my room, ill deliver you some poetic genius to the tune of suffolk times.

I should be moving super slow tomorrow, with a prime limp, I tricked my left knee ligaments again... such a pain, But i am recovery quite nicely from this one thus far. Maybe since i hurt my knee by just getting out of my chair... you can laugh, its quite fine.

Alright so take care all, go outside and go for a walk in you hometowns. Something as simple as a light walk can be so fufillling and help you gain perspective in other aspects of your life. Of course it will make you happier and healthier! Do it for yourself, and me since i cant really get a good stroll in today.

Okay off to celebrate a friends birthday at a luncheon.

This is a picture of St Martin, not to be obnoxious but to show you the beauty around the world and to get us geared up for spring and summer fun !

Take , as always.

Get to Know my World.

These are just a very select group of photos that I think portray a bit of my life at Suffolk.
The first photo, was taken earlier this year, after my flag football team , " The Pelicans" , won the Suffolk University Intramural Championship! Great accomplishment, my roommates and I have played every year since freshman year, its a lot of fun and just a great time.

The second photo is of my roommates and I,before this year's Suffolk University Winter Ball.

The third photo, is the 2008-2009 Suffolk University Program Council Executive Board at the 2009 SGA Awards Show.

The fourth photo is from a celtics game last year where I took my friends, Jen, Taylor and Carrie.

Boston,the city I love

Hello Sunday,

I hope you all are out enjoying this gorgeous day in the city. I love days like today, with the streets filled of people, a vibrance and array of people gather and just partake in the beauty of the city. Today is a postcard day for sure.I took a trip to the Rose Kennedy Greenway in the North End, to meet up with some friends. We then took a nice walk along Christopher Columbus Park, met up with some fellow ambassadors for a bit. It was also fun to finally bust out the "cutoff" tees again. hah!

Days like today always reiterate the fact that moving to Boston was one of the best decisions of my life.

With this last week approaching before spring break, buckle down, work hard in the classroom so that you can have fun and enjoy your break to the fullest. But today, remember, to enjoy and treat yourself right! I just CHALLENGE you to treat yourself right and have fun with the people you surround yourself with, this is a day we should all enjoy !

Im off to hit the books, like a champ.

Take care and stay healthy!

The show must go on !

Hello Thursday ,

So today's weather is a testament to us all by mother nature that spring is still off in the distance and that winter is here with us for the time being. Though the weather is poor today, it will not rain on our parade! The parade of course being Suffolk's Annual Unity Week Showcase. The event is a compilation of entertainment acts put on by students that in some way, shape or form help the student identify who there are culturally and socially. The event will be taking place tonight at 7pm in the C. Walsh Theatre, so may I please suggest, going into the closet and pull out that umbrella, because the trip to temple street is most certainly worth roughing out the elements.

Also this Saturday I am having the pleasure to take part in the Undergraduate Admissions " Students 2 Students" session. I cant wait to work with fellow ambassadors; T.J., Chris, Meg and Mike. That is one star -studded lineup if you ask me!

So let me leave you with this challenge for your weekend. Above all else, enjoy the Weekend ! What can you do that is fun, healthy and exciting and possibly inspire someone else this weekend? I CHALLENGE you to do this all in fun!! Let me know how it goes!

Be safe out there and as always, take care.

Discovery...

I am learning one of the most important things to surrender to is time. Trying to force things just doesn't bode well for us as individuals most of the time. Overcoming obstacles in life take time. When making a life choice that will alter the course of your future, have faith in yourself and enjoy the journey, because that is the beauty of life.
If you are currently unhappy with where you are in life then I CHALLENGE you to look at the journey you traveled that led you to where you are now, have patience with life and be thankful for the little luxuries you have been granted.

As Always , Take Care and stay out of the rain !

Lightening Your Load

Food for Thought...

[So many of you are doing so much everyday to take care of the day. Your a full time student, a full time family member, a full time employee, and the time left for you is minimal and is mostly used for rest. I challenge you to take back sometime for you, some good quality time to use toward your passions, health, and sanity.
Sit down and write down your schedule for the week, collect your thoughts, if there is some fat that can be cut out of your day then snip away, you will not believe the changes that can occur just by lightening your load.]

Monday Funday

Hello All,

Please, do not be alarmed that I am coming to you on Monday, I just woke up today and told myself " Gee,what an awesome opportunity to share with all my loyal fan base the wonders that Suffolk is offering this week. This week is the annual " Unity Week" the theme this year is "Project Unity", the week starts tonight with Nick Verreos from Project Runway in the C. Walsh Theater, free! Nick, will share his insight about the fashion industry and his road to success and national attention.Directly following, there will be a reception in the Donahue Cafe with food and a chance to meet Nick and get his autograph. The event is brought to you by Program Council, Student Leadership and Involvement and Office of Retention Services. This week is sure to a very engaging week, filled with fun, exciting programs to help educate, inform and make the student body more aware of social prejudice within our culture, by coming together to promote unity on campus.

This Saturday, march 6 is "Students to Students",an interactive information session in which prospective and incoming students, hosted and carried out solely by the Student Ambassadors. I will be speaking about Student Life here at the University and I cannot wait to share my experiences with the students and become apart of their collegiate search.

As for me , school is getting to the point of high stress levels, with exams and assignments seemingly all piling up at once, I cannot wait to be on spring break vacation in two weeks!

Okay, well I am off to give a campus tour , so I am going to " make like a tree and leave". (that is from the Back to the Future movies)

As Always, Take Care,

John
